I wanted to comment on this a few days ago but LJ was being cranky.
Honestly, this fic was just so beyond the realm of fan fiction. I'm from India and though I haven't been to all the cities you describe, the way you describe them is so beautiful (not to mention well-researched). The details you put into this were lovely and intricate, and just made the story of Jin's self-discovery so tangible and intense. There's something about this story that seeps into the brain without a proper name. It's this melancholy yet blissful emotion and I loved how you built up this emotion with no name until Jin has his epiphany on a mountain top and sends a novel to Pi. He finds catharsis through abandoning everything in his normal life and losing himself in a foreign land. Though I still wonder why he chose India.. :)
There's so much more that was running through my mind while reading this but it got lost with time. I'll definitely be saving this for future re-reads. Thank you for writing it and sharing!
