jkhgfgdksf I just sort of love playing with structure. Non-linear structure is so fun, to me, but this fic sort of demanded a linear one, so i decided to play with the conceit, a little, to make it like a national geographic tips article mixed with the narrative, so i could break up the scenes. and i like writing about things i know, a lot. it makes me feel confident that i can convey a part of the things i think and feel to other people and it makes me happy. i always try to make the boys feel three-dimensional. like, we all have these little telling habits and we can't always control them and i try to add stuff like that in to give depth to the characterization? idk, sometimes i go overboard but it's really great to hear that you like/notice stuff like that because i'm never sure if i'm wasting my time with it ;; and the photographer's lens... from personal experience, it keeps you from looking at someone directly and it protects you. i wanted to be clear that there was a moment when he didn't want the lens to protect him anymore and... kgfds meta too much meta lol.
