Before I give you this long and ridiculous comment, I must spazz out: OMMMMMFFFFFFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG /dead/
Okay, spazzing done. Just to let you know, I loved this. This is not weird, not at all, it’s perfect, just everything I could ever want in an EXO fic, hands down. So, here’s my long comment because I read too much into stuff and writing is one of my majors.
Le quotes: 1. Jongin's heart beats like a drum, a sharp, quick, staccato rhythm that doesn’t match the languid movements of either of them right now, and betrays the strength of Jongin’s want. 2. Kai makes Jongin feel safe when everything feels dangerous, because he bears a burden that Jongin could never handle. 3. He feels himself slip back into control of his own body in a single sudden rush; his floating impulses suddenly resulting in a movement, his fingers curling to his own commands. 4. There’s a faint touch to Jongin’s wrist, and Jongin follows fingers to an arm to a neck, and Sehun is looking at him with steady eyes. It’s calming, and Jongin’s stomach ceases its revoltades and settles into balance. He grins his thanks, and Sehun’s cheeks dust with a faint pink.
Jongin v. Kai dynamic is just amazing. Kai is the idol, Jongin is the dancer, the timid leader, the sinfully recluse…it’s just beautiful how you made them complementary and yet so distinctive. And your words are so heavy even simple phrases like “It’s a strong name” carry this weight, this connotation of something deeper. It’s amazing how you’ve developed so much and it’s not even midpoint yet. Like Kai’s entire persona here is amazing. It grabs you. It’s different from the Kai we read in this fandom. The countdown to three is painstaking. I was gasping, wondering what would happen at one. Your diction is killing me. It’s really painting this vivid and lively. Despite the solemn feel of the fic.
The issue of Kai being real or not is unnfff. The idol persona takes on an identity itself and the person begins to feel distant from himself and may even be surprised at their own actions as they were not aware, fully, of what was happening…You are a mastermind. Just…really. This is too much. Like, I’m finding so many nifty things in every paragraph…I’m going to stalk you. I have to. I’m not even sorry about it. No lol either. This is happening.
Back to my long comment… Jongin and Sehun at the barre is the most subtly sexy thing I have ever read. It was like smut, but better than that. It’s like the scene in Debauched [by deppgashes] where Jonghyun removes Onew’s glasses from his face and puts them on, crookedly. These soft hints are so elaborate. Showing emotion and longing and yet, they are so small they can be overlooked.
The interlude with Sungmin!!!!!! I’m so nervous right now…my poor Jongin, my beautiful Jongin…
The entire Spotting scene…it has me breathless…you could make anyone fall in love with music and dance with just those two paragraphs.
Sadly, I feel like Taemin here is a hollow shell of a person. It’s like he knows what an idol is supposed to be and it’s such a contrast to Sungmin’s spiel about just being yourself. This really helps further the Kai/Jongin situation.
Yes. Fuck Yes. Kai as Odile…That entire metaphor is perfection. I’m picturing it.
This ending…perfect lead to andante….perfect. I feel it.
