You are a brave woman, I'd imagine backpacking in India, especially if you're a woman, is hard. If these towns are where you went then you've toured around India very thoroughly! Do you remember any Hindi? I don't know how to write it, but I speak and understand it pretty well.

I was never brought up religious but you're right, the Eastern religions are a bit more tolerant (after all they're polytheistic).
